August 1, 2011 - According to reports a Pomona fiery crash caused the deaths of two people and the arrest of one driver. According to police a collision involving two vehicles occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Holt Avenue, near Gary Avenue.
Police believe that a Nissan was pulling out of a Jack in the Box parking lot and was struck by an Infiniti.
The force of the impact split the Nissan in half, striking a light pole where it burst into flames. The victims in the vehicle were burned beyond recognition, according to authorities and investigators stated the bodies appear to be a man and woman.
The driver of the Infiniti has been identified as Lorraine Martinez age 26, who was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. According to authorities Martinez does not have a drivers license and the vehicle was reported stolen earlier in the evening.
Martinez was arrested after questioning and is facing two charges of vehicular manslaughter and grand theft auto.
