Man Injured After Ejected From Vehicle In Anaheim

November 24, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a man was injured when ejected from a vehicle after an Anaheim crash.

According to Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez the accident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Broadway. The accident involved a black Chrysler Sebring and a green Hyundai traveling in the southbound lane. The Sebring struck the side of the Hyundai causing it to spin and strike a traffic signal according to Sgt. Martinez.

The scene of the accident was at the intersection where Loara Elementary School is located. The driver of the Hyundial was ejected through the front passenger window and the Chrysler spun in the same direction, coming to rest north of the curb and facing oncoming traffic.

According to Sgt. Martinez the driver of the Elantra was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange and sustained head trauma in the collision. The woman driving the Sebring also sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Man Critically Injured When Struck

November 21, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a man was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The man identified as a 35 year old Stanton resident was crossing the street to greet a friend when he was struck by a driver in a Ford minivan according to Lt. Fred Furey of the Sheriff’s Department. The accident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Orangewood Street and Beach Boulevard.

The man whose name has not been released was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident, and the driver was not cited in the incident. The man sustained critical injuries and was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, with injuries including a skull fracture according to Lt. Furey. The officer also state that the injuries were not life threatening.

Rollover Accidents Cause Freeway Backup

November 20, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports there were SigAlerts issued in two vehicles that rolled over following an accident.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:38 p.m. according to authorities and involved two cars and a motorcycle. Both vehicles in the accident rolled over after the impace trapping passengers inside. The accident occurred on the I-805 southbound lanes in the vicinity of Murray Ridge Road. There were multiple injuries according to reports.

The crash caused the traffic to slow and followed an earlier accident that occurred on I-8 in the westbound lanes in the vicinity of Mission Center Road. The accident according to authorities also involved multiple vehicles and caused a SigAlert to be issued. There was a motorcycle involved in the accident and the rider was unconscious at the scene of the crash.

In third accident according to the California Highway Patrol an SUV rolled over and an ambulance responded to the scene. The SUV rollover occurred on the 805 Freeway in the vicinity south of 163rd Street.

Hit and Run Victim Identified in Menlo Street Racing Crash

November 16, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports the child that was killed in a Menlo while crossing the street with her mother has been identified, while police are still searching for the driver.

According to Nicole Acker a police spokesperson police investigators are looking for a 24 year old Palo Alto resident, Shannon Fox as a person of interest in the hit and run they believe occurred during a street race.


The child that was fatally injured in the hit and run has been identified as 6 year old Lisa Xavier of Menlo Park, by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office. The accident occurred at the intersection of Willow Road and Bayfront Expressway at approximately 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Lisa Xavier and her mother were both injured when two vehicles were street racing according to Menlo Park Police Department Sgt. Matthew Ortega, and the father was uninjured in the crash.

The accident occurred when two vehicles street racing in the northbound lanes of the expressway struck the Toyota carrying the Xavier family that was in the vicinity of Willow Road and the Sun Microsystems campus.

Witnesses at the scene of the hit and run identified vehicles as 1989 Ford Mustang, which police recovered and a white Honda that the hit and run driver jumped in after the accident.

The mother and child were transported to the Stanford Medical Center, where Lisa died the next afternoon and her mother remains in serious condition.

Car Hit By L.A. Commuter Train No Injuries Reported

November 14, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports an evening commuter train crashed into a vehicle that had been abandoned on the tracks.

Brian Humphrey spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department the accident occurred when a commuter train on the Metro Blue Line in the vicinity of the Vernon Avenue Station crashed into the vehicle that had been abandoned on the tracks.

The train sustained minor damage in the crash according to Humphrey, but no one was injured in the incident. According to authorities after the accident a man identified as Jose Zepeda Reyes turned himself into police stating he intended to kill himself in his car he drove onto the tracks. Reyes also stated to police that he changed his mind leaving the car on the tracks, and is now being held in lieu of $100, 000 bail.

Mobile Construction Crane Falls From Bridge

November 11, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a mobile construction crane fell from the Bay Bridge construction project.

The accident occurred when workers were putting a boom around the orange mobile construction crane in order to catch any lubricants or oil used in running the crane. The crane fell in the water north of the new Bay Bridge and it has been reported that a oil sheen can be seen in the Bay.

There have not been any injuries reported and it is still under investigation how the crane fell into the Bay. Crane accident attorneys San Francisco will be watching this case very closely.

SigAlert Declared After Car Rolls Over On Ortega Highway

November 6, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a SigAlert was issued after a vehicle involved in a crash rolled over.

The vehicle was traveling in the eastbound lanes on Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano in the vicinity east of Antonio Parkway when the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m.

The accident that the vehicle was involved in was a head on collision involving three vehicles, in a construction area of the highway. The collision caused the vehicle to rollover east of the Antonio Parkway.

It was reported that there were no major injuries in the car accident.

Two Men In Fullerton Killed by Freight Train

November 5, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports, two men were struck and killed by a freight train in the Fullerton area, while walking along the tracks.

According to Lt. Craig Brower of the Fullerton Police Department the deadly accident was reported at approximately 11:18 p.m. by an employee of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train. The train personnel stated it was possible there was an accident involving two pedestrians.

During a police search in the vicinity of the train station on Santa Fe Avenue and Balcom Avenue, the bodies of the two men were found after searching approximately 30 minutes. The men were found in the vicinity of Balcom and Commonwealth Avenues by police according to Lt. Brower.

The accident is still under investigation and the identities of the men have not been released pending notification of their next of kin. According to Lt. Brower police are unsure what the two men were doing walking along the tracks at the time of the train accident.

Multi-Vehicle Accident On 57 Freeway After Car Crosses Lanes

November 4, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a multi-vehicle accident occurred after a driver crossed lanes of traffic on the 57 Freeway early this morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada, the accident occurred at approximately 7:49 a.m. in the vicinity of the northbound 57 Freeway and Chapman Avenue, closing the lanes in this area.

The accident occurred when a woman driving a black Toyota RAV4 in the far right lane slammed on her breaks slowing traffic. The vehicle then veered across all the lanes striking a white Nissan Altima in the No. 1 lane, according to California Highway Patrol Officer P. Gomez.

The Altima struck the wall and the RAV4 crossed all the lanes ending up stopping on the right shoulder.

The woman driving the Toyota RAV4 sustained minor leg injuries, according to Officer Gomez.

Downey Hit and Run Victim Identified

November 4, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports the man that was dragged by a vehicle several hundred yards after being struck in Downey has been identified.

The man that was found lying face down in the northbound lanes of Lakewood Boulevard has been identified as 35 year old Allan William Larios, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office Richard Hanna.

According to Downey Police Sgt. Dwayne Cooper, Larios was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered multiple wounds. Police stated that it is still unclear if the victim had been involved in a fight that police responded to at the Shuttle Inn on Imperial Highway, nearby where the victim was found.

Cooper also stated that 23 year old Alex Copeland a resident of Norwalk surrendered to police detectives as being involved in the hit and run accident. Copeland is being held in the Los Angeles County jail and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, on suspicion of murder in Downey Superior Court.

Man Killed In Hit and Run In Downey

November 2, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a man died after being struck and dragged by a vehicle that fled the scene in Downey.

Downey Police Department Sgt Alex Irizabal stated the Los Angeles suburb hit and run occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

The victim is a 35 year old man and Buena Park resident, whose identity is has not been released. According to Sgt. Irizabal, Downey officers responded to a report there was a fight outside of a local bar at approximately 12:30 a.m. and found the victim in the traffic lanes dead.

Witnesses reported that a man involved in the fight struck the man in the bar parking lot and drug him into the lanes of traffic and then fled the scene. Downey police state the man had been dragged approximately 300 yards.

According to the Downey police sergeant it is unclear to investigators at this time if the hit and run victim had been involved in the fight and been struck purposely or if he had no connection to the bar fight.
