Deadly Crash In Irvine On I-405

According to reports by car accident lawyers California, the California Highway Patrol there was an accident on the I-405. The accident that took the life of one driver occurred in the early morning on the I-405 at Irvine Center Drive according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle involved in the deadly crash was a 1991 Mazda that was traveling in the southbound lanes according to Officer Denise Quesada. The driver of the vehicle is described as a 27 year old man from Aliso Viejo.

Witnesses stated the Mazda was weaving in and out of the lanes on the southbound 405 according California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada. The vehicle reportedly swerved to the right shoulder hitting a tree and bursting into flames.
Officer Quesada stated the crash took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. and the driver whose identity has not been pending notification of his next of kin is described as a 27 year old man from Aliso Viejo.

Semi Accident Closes 57 Freeway—One Killed

July 25, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a semi truck accident closed both directions of the 57 Freeway in Fullerton, in which one person was fatally injured.

According to the California Highway Patrol stated that an accident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Chapman Avenue exit near Cal State. The accident included a semi truck that was hauling frozen meat and a passenger vehicle, injuring four people and the driver of the semi truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident according to Officer Gabe Montoya of the California Highway Patrol.

Fullerton Fire Chief Gary Dominguez four people involved in the accident were transported to area hospitals. Dominguez also stated that the semi truck overturned and struck the freeway rail, although he was unsure whether this occurred when the truck and the passenger vehicle collided or prior to the accident. Officer Montoya said that the truck was traveling southbound when it struck the passenger vehicle, and then struck the center divider ending up in the northbound carpool lane where it then caught fire.

The conditions of the four people that were injured have not been released and the identity of the person that was killed has not been released. Fullerton 57 Freeway Accident Causes Fatalities and Closes 57

Fullerton 57 Freeway accident causes fatalities and closes 57 today in both directions this evening, during a big rig semi-truck accident versus a passenger vehicle, according to California car accident attorneys and the California Highway Patrol.

The big rig truck crash happened at around 19:00 hours Pacific Time near the Chapman Avenue exit close to Cal State University Fullerton.

Authorities believe the death was to the truck operator/driver. Although he was killed, four others also suffered personal injuries, and have been taken to nearby hospitals. This story is corroborated by the City of Fullerton’s Fire Chief, Chief Gary Dominguez.

Fire Chief Dominguez declared that the big rig truck was loaded with frozen meats. Apparently the 18 wheeler jackknifed and flipped over after striking the freeway guard safety rail. The fire chief also stated that it wasn’t sure yet if that happened before or after the crash with a passenger vehicle.

Motorcycle Deaths Increase On Orange County Roads

July 18, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by a car accident attorney in Los Angeles, while traffic fatalities have decreased during 2008 motorcycle deaths have risen.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration during 2007 there were 194 traffic related deaths and during 2008 the number of deaths saw a decrease with 163 deaths on Orange County roads.

The largest increase was in motorcycle deaths with a rise of 44 percent, with 25 motorcyclists killed in 2007 and 36 riders killed in 2008. Statewide traffic deaths have decreased with the exception of motorcycle accidents that have increased statewide to 8.1 percent according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

According to Chris Cochran an OTS spokesman, there are approximately one third of the riders that are involved in accidents that do not have a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license. Cochran also said that riders choosing more powerful bikes and there are also riders that are getting back on motorcycles after not riding for years.

In both cases many of these riders are not taking rider’s safety courses that could be taken at the Irvine based Motorcycle Safety Foundation. This course prepares the rider and graduating qualifies the rider for the DMV motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license.

The federal data does show that alcohol related fatalities are down with 56 in 2007 and in 2008, there were 46 alcohol traffic accident related deaths. Traffic related deaths totaled 3,434 in 2008, which is a 14 percent drop over 2007 and are the lowest amount of fatalities since 1975 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Multi Vehicle Accident On I-5 Freeway Involves 9 Vehicles And Injures Multiple Motorists

July 14, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports there was a multi vehicle accident in Lake Forest closed the northbound lanes and sent four people to the hospital with injuries.

According to the authorities the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway and included nine vehicles. The California Highway Patrol Dispatcher Chris Little stated that there were three separate accidents, not a pile up and the accidents were reported at 11:11 a.m. Little also stated that the accidents occurred in the northbound lanes 3,4, and 5, and were in the vicinity of Baker Parkway in Lake Forest.

Captain Greg McKeown of the Orange County Fire Authority stated that the accident involved vehicles on both sides of the I-5 Freeway and four people were transported to hospitals. Three of the people that were transported to the hospital were taken to the trauma center at Mission Viejo’s Mission Hospital and had moderate to serious injuries. The three injured victims were reportedly traveling in the same vehicle and were identified as a 23 year old male and a female age 27 and the third injured victim was a 24 year old woman.


The other injured victim was a female that was transported to Kaiser Permanente, located in Irvine according to Capt. Mckeown. The lanes of the I-5 Freeway, northbound 3, 4, and 5 were closed in the vicinity of Bake Parkway for approximately two hours.

Pickup Truck Runs Off Freeway—Landing On Dyer Avenue Below On Roof

July 15, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a pickup truck landed on its roof after it went over the side of the 55 Freeway in Santa Ana. According to the California Highway Patrol they began receiving reports of a pickup truck that had gone over the northbound side of the 55 Freeway, landing on its roof. The reports they received stated the vehicle was an older model traveling in the carpool lane when it struck the center divider.

This according to one witness caused the pickup to travel across all the lanes of the freeway and go airborne landing on its roof on Dyer Avenue. The California Highway Patrol also stated the truck might have traveled down an embankment prior to flipping on its roof.

One auto accident lawyer in Los Angeles said the driver of the pickup truck had to be extracted from the pickup using the jaws of life by emergency crews and was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The California Highway Patrol stated that there were four CHP units on the scene of the accident, along with the Santa Ana Fire Department. They also stated traffic slowed on the 55 Freeway when between 10 and 15 cars pulled onto the right shoulder.

Teens Killed By Amtrak Train—Police Await Answers

According to reports by at least one California train accident attorney, an Amtrak train in route from Pontiac Michigan to Chicago struck a vehicle filled with teens on the track in Canton Township Michigan.

The accident occurred at a marked gate crossing according to Sgt. Mark Gajeski and the teenage driver identified as 19-year-old Dan Broughton drove around at least one vehicle stopped at the gates that were down at the marked railroad crossing.

The train had 170 passengers aboard at the time of the crash and there were no reported injuries in the train. There was some passenger that did state they became ill from the smell of gasoline.

The Amtrak passenger train that was in route from Pontiac Michigan to Chicago pushed the black Ford Fusion after striking it approximately one mile according to authorities. The train at the time of the crash was traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour.

It has also been reported that the teen driver that was carrying four other passengers that were killed in the accident had his driver’s license suspended for one month for traffic violations including speeding and disobeying a stop sign. His license was suspended for one month by a judge after an April 1st stop in Woodhaven for failure to produce a driver’s license.

Fiery Orange County Multi Vehicle Crash Injures Six

July 2, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by an Orange County car accident lawyer, a multi vehicle crash involving five vehicles injured six in Orange County.

According to the California Highway Patrol the accident occurred in the vicinity of the Paramount Boulevard exit in Long Beach in the eastbound lanes that involved five vehicles and one that was engulfed in flames.

The accident according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Connolly was reported at approximately 4:47 a.m. One vehicle was engulfed in flames and had to be extinguished by firefighters.

Firefighters also had to extract two people that were trapped in their vehicles. According to Connolly one of the injured people was transported by paramedics to the hospital in critical condition and others were treated at the scene of the accident.

The eastbound lanes in the area that the accident occurred were shut down and the car pool lane was reopened at approximately 5:30, with the other lanes being opened at approximately 5:50 a.m. according to Officer Connolly.
